At The Interview (A.T.I. for short) first formed in the summer of 2015 and has since gone through a rotating cast of membership that now counts founding members Tyler “Ty” Demarco and Rodger “Hodge” Williams as its sole full-time, in-studio members with frequent live assists from Tyler “Ty Smith” Vinci-Smith and Michael “Black Mike” Walker. A.T.I. shares members both full/part-time with JOUST, SoyBoyz Entertainment, and Forever Vengeance and has released their full-length, POSTHUMOUS, Nowhere Fast EP, Bandcamp-exclusive MEME EP, eight singles, and two official music videos over the course of the last nine years. Now, after sharing their long-awaited debut full-length back in late 2023, A.T.I, has returned with their first officially released cover, their rousing Punk/Post-hardcore version of Oasis’ beloved 1995 single, “Wonderwall,” from their critically-acclaimed sophomore album, (What's The Story) Morning Glory?. Oasis were often heralded within the press—both state-side and across the pond throughout their career and up until their untimely 2009 disbandment—as “the next Beatles,” but is At The Interview truly “the next Oasis?” Long-time A.T.I. frontman Tyler DeMarco told us all about the genesis, creation of, and story behind their “Wonderwall” cover, which is now available on most streaming services. Give it a listen and check out POSTHUMOUS, too, while you’re at it. Needless to say, we’re very excited to see and hear what’s to come next from At The Interview and it sounds like this (What’s The Story) (Morning) Glory-ous “Wonderwall” cover is just the beginning.

“[This] song was recorded in July 2023. [A] few months prior, Rodger & I decided we were gonna record out of his apartment and bought a bunch of recording gear. We did everything in his living room. This was kinda just a test run to practice learning all of the software and nuances of ProTools and the recording process on our own. We originally planned to have our friend and often [At The Interview] (A.T.I.) co-conspirator [Michael] “Black Mike” [Walker] record drums using the electronic kit at Rodger’s [newfound] studio, but it became too frustrating and laggy with recording. We ultimately had to settle on programming the drums ourselves with another software program. So, once we laid down all the tracks, mixed it over a few weeks, then, it finally got mastered July 2024. [It was] the first time we recorded, mixed, produced, and mastered a track 100% on our own. This is a song that we’ve covered before in live settings. Since it’s so well-known and a simple chord progression, many artists have covered it.

What was supposed to be a practice run at learning something new to us, actually, ended up [being] a full-fledged track that we didn’t think too much about for a bit afterwards. Fast-forward to 2024: A.T.I. had just released their first full-length album [POSTHUMOUS] at the very end of 2023. Our compadres in SoyBoyz were busy prepping for a line of cover shows in The New Year. When you have to fill four 45-minutes sets worth of songs, you pull out all of stops. When we starting rehearsing, of course, “Wonderwall” found its way into our set. Then, I thought to myself, “wait… we have a proper recording of this. Why don’t we just drop it on streaming ,so people can get an idea of what we’ve been up to.” So if you haven’t listened to our cover of “Wonderwall” yet, (by now, you shoulda somehow) you’ll hear that this isn’t a straight-forward cover song. With respect to the artist (and ourselves,) we know that we’ll never come close to replicating the original. So, we do what was always do. Just have fun with it. This is what “Wonderwall” would’ve sounded like if two degenerate friends in 2023 who write Punk & Post-hardcore songs together decided to go full D.I.Y. and test the waters like they never have before.”
