So, yesterday afternoon, we saw a post from former Taking Back Sunday (TBS) rhythm guitarist and founding member Eddie Reyes on Facebook, which explained, "Hey, guys, go check out the remix Steve Aoki did for this old jam; it's pretty cool. I was [a part] of something special that I still love, respect, and deeply miss very much. Proud of the dudes and thanks for the opportunity to be a part of something special." So, then, we did a little digging and digital sleuthing and soon, stumbled upon Taking Back Sunday's "Cute Wihtout The "E" (Ziri)" (Steve Aoki Remix.) Aoki has remixed Emo/Punk Rock mega-hit, "Cute Without The "E" (Cut from The Team)" from TBS' 2002 debut full-length, Tell All Your Friends. It appears as though "Cute Without The "E" (Ziri)" will appear within Aoki's forthcoming HiROQUEST Remixes, which a brief video description says, "comes out on Friday."

Taking Back Sunday (@TBSOfficial) marked the occasion with a celebratory Tweet that read, "It's out! @steveaoki was kind enough to do a remix of a song we wrote in our parents' basements. Please, enjoy "Cute Wihtout The "E" (Ziri.)'" Actually, this is the second recent collaboration shared from Steve Aoki & Taking Back Sunday; prior to "Cute Without The "E" (Ziri,)" Aoki & TBS previously worked together on "Just Us Two" from HiROQUEST: Genesis. "The day after @whenwewereyoungfest, @steveaoki invited us to his house to use his sauna and ice bath (36° F/2° C 🥶). John [Nolan] jumped off his 25-foot roof into the pool and I got to do [cannonballs] into his foam pit. We, also, filmed this video for Steve's remix of "Cute Without The E.'" It's really amazing to see how this song has taken on a life of it's own after being written in basements on Long Island," long-time TBS bassist Shaun Cooper (@shaunwcooper) shared on his Instagram page.

Honestly, as wild as it may sound, Steve Aoki, actually, has a storied background in Punk/Hardcore & Emo himself having made music before becoming a world-renown DJ with bands, such as Esperanza, F**k You, Rifoki, The Fire Next Time, and This Machine Kills. Additionally, Aoki has either worked with and/or remixed songs from the likes of Refused, blnk-182, Fall Out Boy, My Chemical Romance, Crass, Goody Grace, Travis Barker, The All-American Rejects, Good Charlotte, Rob Zombie, and members of both The Exploited & Die Kreuzen. Aoki's record label, Dim Mak Records, issued the 2014 self-titled and currently lone release from XTRMST, a Hardcore band formed by Davey Havok & Jade Puget from AFI/Blaqk Audio, along with Chris Sorenson from Saosin, Josh James from Stick to Your Guns, and Valeriano Saucedo from Loma Prieta & Ex-Youth.

So, if you ever were/are into Punk, Hardcore, and Emo, and/or EDM and Dance music or are just looking to listen to something different today, we strongly suggest checking out Steve Aoki & Taking Back Sunday's collaborative and remixed efforts, "Just Us Two" & "Cute Without The "E" (Ziri.)" There's a really interesting 20-minute ZOOM conversation dubbed artist x artist between Steve Aoki & Taking Back Sunday's Shaun "Shawn" Cooper, Adam Lazzara, John Nolan & Mark O'Connell now available on SPIN's YouTube channel. Here's hoping all of these recent collaborative efforts with Aoki will finally inspire TBS to finish up and release their first album of original material since 2016's Tidal Wave. Taking Back Sunday's "Cute Without The "E" (Ziri)" (Steve Aoki Remix) is now available on streaming platforms, along with "Just Us Two." It appears as though Steve Aoki's HiROQUEST Remixes drops tomorrow, Friday, November 11, 2022, on Dim Mak Records.
