Jumbled Shares Classic Rock Breaks, Vol.1 & Tone Lōc-inspired CD-only Just The Singles (Harford & Reckord Tapes)

Just this past Friday was the first Bandcamp Friday of 2021 and to help celebrate the occasion, our favorite Baltimore-based producer, JUmbled (who describes himself as falling "somewhere between Madlib & Mike Watt") returned with a gaggle of goodies: a new project, Classic Rock Breaks, Vol. 1 and a CD-only comp. entitled Just The Singles, as well as resurfaced CD copies of his early Rap/Hip-Hop album, Keep Diggin', Monster Jam, YOU DON'T KNOW?! with bonus cuts, and Bully Preston's The Insult, and cassettes of You Best Not Miss with Lace Berriez and his 2019 instrumental beat tape, Padre.

As stated above, Just The Singles is a Tone Lōc - Lōc-ed After Dark-inspired CD-only comp. featuring Jumbled's collaborative efforts with the likes of ALASKA, Cody Cody Jones, Dot-Com Intelligence, Dwell, salk. Drew Scott, Torito, UllNevaNo, Vans_Westly, and more. For those painfully unaware, the remainder of the aforementioned releases are peviously released Jubled efforts, which have, seemingly, just now, resurfaced in limited physical formats. However, the sole "new" release is something we've been hearing rumblings about for quite some time now; Jumbled's Classic Rock Breaks, Vol. 1 is just as it sounds, a Hip-Hop breaks/loops/chops record boasting samples primarily lifted from well-known Classic Rock bands.

Split apart into two distinct 14+ minute sides, Classic Rock Breaks' song titles seem to suggest Jumbled incorporated samples originally culled from The Jimi Hendrix Experience, AC/DC, Black Sabbath, The Guess Who, ZZ Top, Wings, Rush, Heart, and Uriah Heep, as well as a variety of cinematic sound bites. "Some of my earliest music memories are tied to my older brother. He was a gearhead that loved Classic Rock. Had every Zeppelin album on cassette (even Coda.) When he got a 5-disc CD player, he would let it Shuffle all night–Tom Petty, Bob [Seger, Creedance Clearwater Revival], etc." Jumbled shares within the Bandcamp Description.

"In 2nd grade, when we had to bring in our favorite music to Music Class, I took in Led Zeppelin II. This release is inspired by this. It's almost taboo to sample things so recognizable—most of these are (not so) deep cuts from [some] legendary bands. Grooves that have been stuck in my head for 30+ years. Thanks Chuck," he continues. Jumbled's Class Rock Breaks, Vol. 1 is now avilable for purchase on Bandcamp in both digital and limited edition cassette tape formats, via Harford & Reckord Tapes. Jumbled told us, via email, "this mix will probably disappear after a while..." although, the "Vol. 1" within its title suggests there will be future volumes.
