Liberty & Justice Premeire "MAD WORLD" Music Video from Upcoming Pressure at New Noise (Contra Records/Death Exclamations!)
Aside from The Clash and despite what Spotify thought (Rockabye Baby! was my "TOP ARTIST") I think, it's pretty safe to say Liberty & Justice were amongst my Favorite Artists of 2020. They self-released a series of singles and charasmatic covers—which largely seem to now be absent—on their Bandcamp page, as well as a phenomenal EP entitled MY AMERICA. We very much enjoyed their pandemic cover of Robyn's "Dacing On My Own" and it's accompanying socially-distant remotely-recorded music video and were fortunate enough to host a premiere of Liberty & Justice's video for their Green Day cover of "Jason Andrew Relva (J.A.R.)" Frontman Ryan "Crowns" Taylor even curated an installment of our recurring column, With The Quickness entitled Telephone Road Street Essentials, Vol. 1 featuring Skinhead, Street Punk & Oi! stand-outs. All the while, we've been hearing rumblings about Liberty & Justice's For All follow-up for quite some time now.
It appears as though Liberty & Justice's sophomore album, Pressure, has finally been properly announced. It's coming early next year, tentatively, spring of 2021 on Cintra Records across Europe and one recently resurrected Death Exclamations here in The US. Following a premiere of "a new town" from MY AMERICA EP with our friends at NO ECHO, Liberty & Justice have returned with yet another music video premiere; this time, it's lead-off Pressure single "MAD WORLD." New Noise Magazine hosted said premeire yesterday afternoon and "MAD WORLD" was directed by Derek Rathbun and features Brian "Fun Boy" Talal Alchamaa (Trash Magz, THE SPITS) along with Liberty & Justice's own Ryan Taylor, Cory Parker, Edwin Carson, Halston Luna & Ramzi Beshara. Below, you'll see Liberty & Justice's feverish "MAD WORLD" music video, as well as a bit of commentary from the band provided eclusively to New Noise. Liberty & Justice's Pressure is expected to drop early next year on Contra Records/Death Exclamations.
While taking traditional cues from the likes of The Templars & 4Skins, L&J aren't content to make by-the-numbers Oi! Instead, giving nods to the channeled [Hardcore] ferocity of Sheer Terror, the sing-along sincerity of The Trouble, the hard-scrabble Outsider Rock sensibilities of The Bruisers, and fight-ready mentality of Houston originalists Tread. Blending it all seamlessly into something authentically their own, L&J unapologetically force their own voice through to the fore and out on to the streets.
Not content to sit on their hands during 2020's loss of stage time and road miles, L&J committed their efforts to the studio. Distilling the frustrations and rage of the year's climate into a counter attack of two EP's and putting the finishing touches on the new Pressure full-length. Scheduled for release spring of 2021, Pressure is a collaborative release effort between European stalwarts Contra Records and the recently resurrected Death Exclamations in The US. Oi! ain't dead! Street Rock ain't dead! And L&J are delivering that message from [Texas] with a boot!
