3 Feet High & Rising: German Proto-Metal/Doom Funk Outfit Tetrao Urogallus Share "Euphorbia Helioscopia" (Color Red Records)

Not too long ago, we told you about Contemporary Soul, Mod-Jazz, and R&B outfit Hamburg Spinners based out of Hamburg, Germany; at the time, Hamburg Spinners were gearing up to unleash their long-awaited debut album, Skorpion Im Stiefel, which has since been effectively released on Légère Recordings. Now, it has been announced that three of Hamburg Spinners' four members—Dennis Rux, David Nesselhauf, and Carsten Meyer—have launched yet another German Doom Funk/Proto-Metal band, Tetrao Urogallus. In addition to Rux on electric guitar, Nesselhauf on bass, and Carsten on electric organ/synthesizer, Tetrao Urogallus' expanded line-up, also, includes drummer Corneel Canters, trumpet player Hans-Christian Stephan, and saxophonist Alexander "Kimo" Eiserbeck.

We recently received a press release introducing us to the band, which explains: "Tetrao Urogallus bridges the gap between Heavy Metal & Psychedelic Instrumental music in their sun splurge-inspired track, "Euphorbia Helioscopia'" (meaning "Madwoman's Milk.") It further details, stylistically, Tetrao Urogallus interestingly fall somewhere in-between Black Sabbath & Menahan Street Band with an added promise that "this project will please your musical palate." Honestly, Tetrao Urogallus do possess musical attributes similar to both Black Sabbath & Menahan Street Band, as well as El Miches Affair, Brownout/Brown Sabbath, The Soul Surfers, Bacao Rhythm & Steel Band, and Budos Band, their music is extremely unique and largely unlike anything we've ever heard before.

Tetrao Urogallus' ever-evolving discography, at press time, currently includes aforementioned track, "Euphorbia Helioscopia," as well as previous singles "Tetrao Urogallus" and "Barbarea Vulgaris." It appears as though, all of these singles will be re-collected into an upcoming album, as Tetrao Urogallus' latest press release explains, '"Euphorbia Helioscopia" is the third single by the brand new project that will be part of a full-length album released on Color Red in 2021." There's a vinyl pledge campaign that's currently being funded, as well, to help get tetrao Urogallus' self-titled full-length pressed onto shiny black wax. 11 of 100 vinyl (LP) packages have currently been pre-ordered with the project backed 11% to date, so if you would like to support, you can go ahead and do that right over here. Tetrao Urogallus' singles, "Euphorbia Helioscopia," "Tetrao Urogallus," and "Barbarea Vulgaris" are now available on digital streaming platforms, via Color Red Records.
