Bacchae Let Loose "Leave Town" from 2020 Full-length PLEASURE VISION Recorded & Mixed By J. Robbins (Get Better Records)
Bacchae are a DC-based Post-punk/Riot grrrl, Pop Punk, and Synth Punk group consisting of vocalist/keyboardist Katie McD, drummer Eileen "O." O'Grady, guitarist Andrew "B." Breiner, and bassist Rena "H." Hagins. Formed in 2016 by four friends from various musical projects with minimal experience, Bacchae "make music with no assumptions about what a "Punk band" should sound like." Since 2016, Bacchae have self-released a home-mixed 2016 Demo and a cassette entitled Down The Drain, as well as a self-titled 5-track EP last year. Now, Bacchae have returned with the announcement of their debut full-length, Pleasure Vision, to be released next year on Get Better Records. Earlier this week, Bacchae issued the second single, "Leave Town," from Pleasure Vision, which was preceded by "Everything Ugly" this past May; "'Leave Town" is a pronouncement against predators," Bacchae's Katie McD recently explained to The Witzard, via email.
"We tried to incorporate several different Punk styles into the melody and structure of the song," McD continued. Pleasure Vision was recorded and mixed by J. Robbins (Jawbox) at The Magpie Studio in Baltimore, Maryland and mastered by Dan Countant at Sun Room Audio with production assistance/rhythm guitar by Rosendo Flores and backing vocals by Shawna Potter of War On Women. "On their new LP, Pleasure Vision, brooding synth-driven Pop sits alongside prickly, fast-paced Punk and spooky Post-punk sounds. Sometimes, you get all of that in a single song. But whether the band is exploring the pain of a doomed relationship or the push-and-pull of disgust and desire while shopping online, what carries through it all is a sense of uncertainty, dissolution, and dread. Pleasure Vision is a way of looking at the world that ignores everything, but how you can twist it to your own purposes," explains a press release. Bacchae's Pleasure Vision will be released Friday, March 6, 2020 on Get Better Records.
