If Buffalo-based Wrestle Punk/Wrestle-core pioneers PURE HEEL are the modern day equivalent of Henry Rollins era Black Flag, then, Nantes, France-helmed CIRCLES are likely their cross-continental version of Minor Threat/Fugazi. Fully embracing their stylistic nods and sonic allusions to Ian MacKaye’s Minor Threat & Fugazi, Embrace, Dag Nasty, Rites of Spring, Revolution Summer era bands, nearly the entirety if Dischord Records’ formative back catalog, Ebullition Records, and newer bands, like SUNSTROKE & Celebration Summer, CIRCLES has been making Neo-HarDCore selections since 2017. Since forming, CIRCLES has released a seven-track demo, an EP entitled Resonate, a blistering collection of covers by sources of influence and inspiration, a 7-inch/digital single, and a live EP collectively including covers of everyone from The Cure to the Beastie Boys. Now, right at the top of 2024, CIRCLES are back with two brand new singles, “Changes” and “Split,” and an impending album, still. CIRCLES’ still. is described by their American-based label, Extinction Burst!, as chock-full of “discordant guitars and rolling basslines fill this release along with layers of melody that leave you with an emotional inclination for more. Taking sway from bands like One Last Wish and Dag Nasty, CIRCLES deliver 12 songs of well-crafted melodic-infused Hardcore. A Joint Venture between Shield Recordings (Netherlands) and Extinction Burst!.”

CIRCLES’ current line-up consists of long-time vocalist and band mastermind Guillaume Salort, drummer Antoine Boisset, guitarists Guillaume Martin & Mathias Peronne, and bassist Julien Normand, who, also, all collectively contributed guitar parts across still. “Changes” and “Split” are to blistering rippers that will, indeed, get your blood flowing and make you want to incite a one-man circle pit in your living room and/or work place. We’ve already heard the rest of still. and trust us, it’s already poised to be one of the strongest cohesive offerings of 2024! Just one other added bonus for this already super-stacked release: still. was recorded at Studio des Moulins by Piermo Broggi and mixed and mastered at Salad Days Studio by Brian” Fury” McTernan of BE WELL, Ashes, Battery, Biology, and Miltown. CIRCLES’ still. is now available for pre-order directly from Extinction Burst! (in the States) and Shield Recordings (Overseas) on cream-colored white vinyl for those of you still interested in purchasing physical media. Also, F.Y.I.: we suggest you keep an eye on the page sof our sister site, NO ECHO, as they’ll be hosting an exclusive full-album premiere of still. next Thursday 2/8. CIRCLES’ still. is out on Friday, February 16, 2024 on Extinction Burst!/Shield Recordings.
